The police force in Colchester has suffered years of Tory cuts and this against a backdrop of increasing crime on our streets.
Last year violent crime in the town rose by 25 per cent and it now has the highest crime rate in the county. Knife crime is at a five-year high and there is only enough resources to investigate 3 per cent of anti-social behaviour.
Enough is enough. Let’s give our police force the financial support it needs so we can have more officers to make our streets a safer place again.
And if elected, Bob will fight plans to merge the fire service and the police force. Another Tory policy that simply will not work.
