Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell won two first places with his home-made jam at the Colchester Rose and Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show.
His winning entries were blackberry jam in the berry class and blackberry and apple in a class for any type of jam.
Sir Bob was also gained a second place, with his plum jam in the class for stone fruit.
The blackberries and plums were all picked from Sir Bob’s back garden. He made the jam in a preserving pan used for many years by his late mother.
Sir Bob’s paternal grandfather was a leading member of the Society and there is a cup in his memory. Sir Bob’s father also supported the Society.
The Autumn Show was held on Saturday at Castle Methodist Church. Sir Bob presented the cups.
