I’ll sum up the contribution a borough councillor can make to local life as –
finding ways for people to live better. I would like to see more of us enjoying
what Colchester has to offer and as many of us as want to getting actively
involved.
My own experience listening to residents shows these opportunities are
varied. They include helping with personal difficulties; bringing practical
improvements at the Rec with its new play areas, community café and the
wonderful new gates telling our story. With my responsibilities for leisure and
communities, I am proud of our long support of local charities, of the
investments in Leisure World with its million visits a year and of our award
winning parks.
We are not just a growing town, we are a thriving town. Our relationships with
nearby towns and villages reflect that growth and energy. Councillors with
their local knowledge and understanding of how things work build these links.
And me? Colchester has become my home. I first came here over 40 years
ago. My daughter and grandson were born here. I was first elected in 2011.
A big thank you to everyone who re-elected me last year. Now I am asking
you to vote for me again so that I can do my best for us all in the new ward of
New Town and Christ Church.
