Moving On From Lock Down
Our Lib Dem led Council has made great progress with partners. To help the vulnerable, to help business with grants and funds and advice. Now they must plan for the future. We have to move on from closure and in a safe way give confidence to consumers and start up the local economy. Recovery work has started. The plans are being drawn up - for us and business.
We are talking to businesses. We need them to open, for the life of our town, for their future and for jobs.
Social distancing will be central to life for many months. The debate is starting. How can we best use our public space? How can we encourage shops to work together and how can we give you and other residents confidence?
A joint task force with the Business improvement District and other local key organisations has been formed. This will work through these issues and to help advise and coordinate what we can all do best, together.
Recovery is our joint aim. We know it will be a hard road but your Lib Dem led Council will do all it can to bring life back into the town, safely.
We will also look for opportunity. To take the best of the lock down, whether cleaner air or less congestion and more people walking and cycling, or working in different ways.
These are tough times - but Lib Dems will lead the way out of recession into better times. Investment. Partnership. Social and economic recovery. Keeping the best crisis showed of us all.
