War widows can keep pensions

The decision by the Coalition Government which will enable war widows who subsequently remarry or cohabit to continue to be entitled to receive the pension has been welcomed by Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell.

Hitherto, any war widow who remarried or cohabited had the pension taken away.

Sir Bob said that as a result of the decision for war widows he would now make a fresh attempt to get the same change introduced for the widows of Police Officers killed while on duty.
