Creative Colchester

Living in the the borough of Colchester has rarely been so good.

Jobs and business numbers are up. Pay is up and is higher now than the wider region. Colchester has a buzz. More investments planned. And a Lib Dem led Council that wants to keep the best of the past and to build upon their success. This is seen by others, with Colchester highlighted as a 'creative hotspot' in the Government's latest 'Sector Deal' for the Creative Industries.

This could open a wide variety of opportunities through a new £20M Creative Development Fund. And a further £39M available for building new research and development partnerships between universities and business via the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.

This recognition of Colchester as a place in which the creative industries can develop and thrive is great news. These industries make an increasingly valuable contribution to our local economy. They already employ nearly 7,000 and they typically grow faster than others - perhaps 10% a year. The potential for further Government funding is yet more positive news.

Your Lib Dem led Council help make this happen. They have been recently shortlisted for a national digital innovation award and praised for their customer service. And their attitudes and actions draw in the investment and talented people that makes for a thriving and prosperous borough.

Creative Colchester. Help keep it that way. Vote Liberal Democrat on May 3rd.
