Help those who help others

Liberal Democrats believe in community - in the power of local people to come together to solve their own problems and make a better life, to include support to community organisation.   The Lib Dem led Colchester Borough Council plays their full part - helping those who help others.  As part of that approach eight community organisations will share a £230,000 Voluntary Welfare Grant for 2018/19.  Each group will either increase volunteering, help people build skills, prevent loneliness, support people to act within their communities, or help vulnerable people Those chosen are: Age Concern Colchester, Beacon House, Citizens Advice, Colchester Furniture Project, the Emergency Night shelter, Colchester and Tendring Women's Refuge, and the Youth Enquiry Service. And Community360, who will mentor and support more local groups to make a difference.

Our congratulations and thanks to them all, and to all who help others. They include those residents and organisations across Colchester who help thousands of vulnerable people through the colder months, supported by funding from the NHS.  The new 'Colchester Communities Can' project, running to 31 March, gives extra support, provisions and advice to those who are in need or isolated during the winter.  Visit them at Unit 81 Culver Street East or ring 0800 7311 655 to help or seek help.  For winter wellbeing advice visit  Thanks to all who help.
