Manifesto 2026

Putting Colchester’s Communities First

Putting Colchester first: cleaner streets, stronger services, support for residents, well-planned homes and a thriving economy. Practical leadership, responsible finances and community action to build a greener, healthier and more inclusive city.

Colchester is a city with a proud history and a strong future shaped by a Liberal Democrat led administration and by Lib Dem Councillors who have delivered real, practical improvements for residents.

In launching the Lib Dem Manifesto Group Leader, Cllr Martin Goss said:

‘Liberal Democrat politics are rooted in the community. In meeting the needs, large and small of our residents. Listening to their needs, responding, as I do, to their issues all year round.  Our Manifesto does the same.  We will build on our successes, with a continued commitment to yet better recycling and waste reduction, to investment in our parks and green spaces, play areas, and community facilities, to changes that will help the quality of life of all our residents.  With a priority for a new bus station and transport interchange as soon as we can.

Lib Dem Council Leader, Cllr David King said:

‘We have strengthened homelessness prevention, invested in council housing, secured major regeneration funding for the city centre, whilst maintaining a responsible, balanced budget. We want to continue that progress.  To elect hard working Lib Dem councillors to serve their communities like no other can. To keep the inclusive, welcoming destination feel of our city. To keep Colchester a great and caring place to live work and visit’.
